Of all the people I have made films on Bernie Taupin appears to have the perfect scenario, he has co-written some of the most famous songs of all time, has the respect of his peers, yet can still walk unnoticed down any high street. We told Bernie’s story from his childhood in Lincolnshire, his first meeting with Elton John, and how they would go onto become one of the most successful song writing partnerships of all time. Although Bernie has written lyrics for other artists-as featured in this clip- and has performed and recorded in his own right, it is for his collaborations with Elton that he will be remembered. This film was as much about their relationship as it was about Bernie himself.
